Marianne de Pierres' Journal
This and That
15-Mar-2010I've added the TISF review of Mirror Space to the website's Podcast page. I love listening to Keith's summary of the story so far. I wish he could write my synopses for me!
What else ... I'm on the last chapter of my rewrite for Trans Space and am feeling quite elated to be so close to the end.
I'm also a little in love with wordpress at the moment and am leaning towards that for my new website look.
On Thursday night I'm going to Borders Chermside Book club to talk about Sharp Shooter and will take some Parrish and Sentients bookmarks with me.
When Friends do Good
14-Mar-2010A few years ago I was GOH at the Australian National Convention. This particular year it was in Hobert, Tasmania, a smaller than usual con because it was further for attendees to travel. It was also on of the best cons I've ever been to; small enough that everyone got to know each other, but with many room parties and the opportunity to make new friendships. One of those new friendships for me, was the international GOH, Anne Bishop.
Anne is a wonderful, creative, gentle person who I love, and whose work is hugely popular. Today, I'd like to celebrate her success on debuting at no. 16 on the NYT Bestseller list with her new novel Shalador's Lady. Kudos Anne, and it's most well and truly deserved!
Sentients of Orion schedule for US release

Dark Space - October 2010
Chaos Space - April 2011
Mirror Space - August 2011
Transformation Space - December 2011
And here's the Nightshade Blurb:
The Sentients of Orion is a wide screen, epic space opera. Deep Space chronicles of the intrigues and conflicts surrounding a seemingly omnipotent alien artifact, and a seemingly insignificant backwater star system and its ruling family.
Angus and Robertson Northlakes signing
08-Mar-2010I’ll be signing at the Angus and Robertson Northlakes store this Saturday 10 am – 12 pm. The shop is too small to fit more than one author at a time, so when Kylie and I were there last time we had to sit out in the corridor. This time I’m returning solo so I can sit inside the shop. I’d love to see some familiar Northside faces, or meet some new ones!
Out of the Frying Pan
06-Mar-2010I'm neither here nor there about 'things that run in families'. Never thought about it a great deal. But my Grandfather, my sister and my brother are all writers. And now my twin nephews have their first book coming out. Call it genetics or a 'cluster effect', but there's got to be something going on there!
Anyway, their book is rather special. It's called Out of the Frying Pan and is a collection of stories from young people about their experiences as they emerge into adulthood; some poignant and some very, very funny. The book is produced by Finch publishing who have brought us books like Raising Boys etc.
The book has a website where you check out the contributors, editor info and where to buy.
